Post 88 S4 cooling fans won't turn off

After coming home from work today my cooling fans would not turn off. They ran for over 10 minutes and I popped the hood to cut them both off. Started the car and turned it off but it didn't matter, came back 10 min later and could still get them to run. The car has cooled down for two hours now, fans off now with the hood down. I don't remember the fans ever coming on before. I did come close to the redline on the way home (2nd gear). Any suggestions?

Thanks

Mine was doing the same thing and fixed it as such.
