Thanks Kim for posting the pictures of my injured shark.

To make things clear, those tires had about 3K miles before I got to the tail of the Dragon. The car was freshly aligned and the tires were perfect.

The best theory points to back toe adjustment bolts not torqued enough.
Following Jim and Ed through the Dragon slipped the adjustment and created a severe toe in of the back wheels. That was enough to destroy the back tires in 11 miles.

I feel very lucky that nobody was hurt from this situation.

Big thanks again the Texas posse for their patience and support. And to Jim in particular for getting the old Lady back to spec in less than 30 minutes in the parking lot
