Post Broken Water Pump Bolts

There has been a bit of discussion on removing broken water pump bolts. A few comments:

Apply a GOOD penetrating oil (not WD-40) for as long as possible.

Use left-hand drill bits (cheap ones are available from Harbor Freight).

If accessibility is a problem, use a right-angle drill or drill extension (again, available from Harbor Freight). It might be worthwhile to pull the radiator if you haven't already done so - it's pretty easy.

If possible, stick the old pump back on with a couple of bolts, wrap the drill bit with enough tape to center it in the bolt hole over the broken bolt, and get the hole started straight and centered. After the hole is well started, take the pump off to continue drilling, as the bolt will often back out as you drill it with the left-hand bit.

OK Wally...I just did a pre-emptive strike...went to www.harborfreight.com and bought a right angle drill adapter, left hand drill bits, and a screw extractor set...all for less than $50. I'm equipping my self to tackle the T-belt, water pump, engine mounts, oil pan gasket replacement, and cam tower leaks. Thanks for the suggestions about Harbor Freight. The only part of the job ahead that scares me is the cam tower removal and replacement. I have searched Rennlist and read what's there and I have gathered what info I could from my CD shop manuals. Do you have any sage advice concerning the cam towers? My 928 is a '84S auto. Any tips on accessing the hex socket screws nearest the fenders?
Thanks in advance
