Question locks and keys

A short time back I raised this question, but it is more pressing now.

Here ya go. Greetings from Oregon.

I have a question for the collective wisdom. I am having a problem with keys and locks. This is a ’83 Euro S. It has 73k miles showing. Here is the problem. The key is increasingly difficult to get into the ignition. I have to wiggle it incessantly and it keeps getting tougher to get completely in so I can start the car. I am sure I will get stranded shortly. Secondly, the drivers door lock has begun to be difficult also.

Here is what I have done so far. I have bathed the locks in WD-40. After that, I have shot graphite into the locks to make them easier to operate. Frankly, none of this seems to help. I have seen other posts talking about this or that product to free up sticky locks, but mine are not sticky I don’t think. They just no longer want to work. By the way, the car is a non alarm lock car.

Here are my questions.
Should I get a new ignition from big three and new driver door lock at same time and have both of them keyed to my key for the other locks? What about just replacing the ignition and adding a keyless entry to doors and not worrying about having an extra key to open the hatch? Anyone have feedback or advice for me about this??? Bueller??? Anyone??? Thanks in advance..

Cool

I'd take your ignition to a competant locksmith and have him deal with it..

In 1991, I bought my first motorcycle- a '70 CB-750-4 with a sand-casted engine block. 67 horsepower and 480 pounds, I couldnt believe how fast it felt, my first motorcycle. I ended up selling it for $500.

$500. A few months later I found out that a sand-cast CB750 was typically worth $3-5k, due to rarity. BAAAAAAD normy.....

Anyway, I promptly lost its key. I was at a loss, but my friend told me to take it to a locksmith. He took out an uncut key, covered it with WD40, inserted it into the lock, pulled it out, and looked at it.

Then he put it in a grinder and made me a key from sight...

yes SIR this scared the living hell out of me- Locksmiths are indeed THAT good. I bet if you take your key and ignition there, they can find a way to make your life easier.....

Normy!
