Default Ummm. .What is it?

Crud...I didn't know I closed the earlier thread, but I need to know what the item is. I found it in a box of 928 parts. I'm looking for a heater valve. Is this it?

Yup, that is the HCV, heater control valve.

Located behind the engine on the passenger side. Pretty easy to replace if you need to. New prices for these are about $20.00.

If you need one, and you have one, take a vac tester (mity vac) to it and see if it holds pressure. If so, you have a good one.

any heater valve that has been used should be removed from service if its over 5 years old, what will eventually happen is the plastic rib will fracture and then the valve will slide out of either hose that has the fracture and you will then have a very smokey trail as your coolant pours out from the line. If your replacing the HCV you should always replace the small hose that comes from the back of the engine to the HCV, We have replaced 3 valves in the last year for this same reason. A new valve also offers peace of mind as the vacuum valve will also have a long life

There's a thread in here that identifies an all-metal replacement unit that should be used. It identified the unit as a Audi 5000 heater valve.
