Damn it John,
Don't we have enough problems to try and figure out about things that actually wrong with our 928's? Now I won't sleep at night trying to figure out what it is. I've been through the shop manuals/owners manuals to no avail. I think I might know where your thoughts are headed though. The wires on my reservoir attach to the side of it, could it be the answer to your current brake warning light woes? I hope someone enlightens us before I go to bed. My dreams tonight are of fixing the low voltmeter readings.

With all the infinate wisdom and the plethora of superfluous BS on this site, no one knows what it is?

John,
The button is part of your low fluid level switch. Not sure why it has the rubber top unless it is set up to press and check your warning light. Tried pushing it on my silver 78 but nothing happened (no light). Can't check it on the black 78 since the battery is out of it (along with the front of the motor-another story).

If it's anything like the fluid resevoir on my 66 E-Type (and it probably isn't), it's a space for the float rod to travel up and down. See, on the E-type, there's a rod with a cork (preferably champagne!) on it. When the fluid goes down, the cork goes down and eventually pulls the rod down too. This causes a circuit to be made and turns on the dummy light. Pushing it down may not be enough to trigger this. Just a guess.

Dennis and Andrew,
Thanks this 'seems' the most likely.
Dennis,
Thanks for that site, I'll check tonight!
Snow,
Are you sure you aren't connected to:
GREEN SPRITE ?
You have just found another piece of my convolted history. Just a piece though...
My wife and I spent a chunk of our lives at the Indian Head Naval Ordanance Station, after a serious 3 weeks at Redstone Arsenal -huntville,ALA- playing with 'live chemicals'.
You won't be hearing posthumous commentary about me on CNN, but to be truthful I do 'sweeps' occasionally on everything including Pattycakes...you never know. Also use an old rotary phone, because I do know!
