Computer/ECU removal questions.

Donald, I will be sure to let you as well as mike and others know the minute I am sure of the ETA.
Mike, DEVEK is rebuilding the motor for me. During the teardown and reassembly a few interesting things were found.
1. One odd piston was found.
2. Already had GT cams installed.
3. Already had high flow injectors installed.
I bought this car from a guy in Denver Co. who knew very little (so he said) about the car. It came to me with 34k on the clock, perfect inside and out (9.5 inside 8.5 outside). After looking over the service records the car came with I was convinced that it was the electrical problems that several shops couldn’t fix that was forcing the sale. The electrical system was about a 5, but this was not a big deal to me and soon after I had it at the house, I had everything working as designed.
DEVEK has done the following (short list). <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />
1. Bored block to 104mm.
2. Installed new rods and pistons.
3. Rebuilt the heads and performed some light port work.
4. Replaced all wear items on exterior of motor I.E. sensors, switches, hoses and ISV etc.
Last week I received pictures from DEVEK showing the motor complete except for oil pan, cam belt covers, V- hardware and injectors. I am in hopes that I will be getting a call any day now that the motor is ready to ship back to it’s host.

Donald, the Houston list is handled by Don Carter. I'll see him tomorrow at the Porsche Clinic and get the information then. I'll forward you (will need email address) and Max a copy.
Where in Texas are you??

Mike, Did you get the license plate number on the dump truck? They are denying responsibility
John, I know we kind of got off topic and I'm sorry, it was my fault. Just shoot me now
However, I did talk to a friend of mine (Owner; Ken’s paint and body, Harlingen TX.) and asked him about your Quarter Panel replacement. He emphasized having them align your car (chassis alignment)after they remove the old quarter panel, leave it on the frame machine till the new quarter is completely spot welded on. He went on to say he has heard of a few shops that have tried to short cut this method and the results were less than desirable.

Max,
No Problemo,
Shark news and owner interface is always a good thing.
Thanks for the chassis tip will check tomorrow and or monday.
Can't wait to get the sHARk back as the gumby handling and suspension on 'old red', my 87',
F-150,XLT Lariat not to mention the absolutely noiseless engine can be a unnerving at times. Have had the left front and right rear Michelin's
delaminate in a one week period. Front left went down around what used to be Lake Spence, right rear went returning from work.
The gator' in both cases refused to completely leave the carcass so all but a 8" strip was flailing away at the body. Those 30x9.50x R 15's can reach out there. Left front knocked the mirror back and tried to join me in the cab, repeatedly. Sure was a breath holder, dodging rubber while trying to stay in the lane at 75mph. Good tires, until they let go!

Max, John,
The Advantage Porsche service clinic was yesterday. Wall-to-wall Porsches of every flavor. 928's were well represented...including a lady with one of the rare '95 GTS Auto's. It was an ego boost to see the technicians and other Porsche drivers clustered around the sharks and slobbering over the V8's.
I'll get the Houston 928 list out to you guys this week.
Max, wandered around in the back lot. Your car is safely covered, but still without engine. Hans said to say hello, and asked when the DEVEK wonder will be completed.
FYI. There is a 93-94 GT back there that looks cherry. It just sits baking in the sun. Service guys say the owner (a UT type with personalized plates) brought it in months ago and never came back. Hans told me he found a mouse nest in the engine compartment.
Adios, <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />

MikeD, et al, perhaps we can continue the OT (Texas 928 stuff) over to Lobis' thread on I have noticed most sharks live near the ocean) as he wants to host a get-together on the third coast.
