Talking Winter Projects All Done

<img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />
The winter here in the northeast has been great if you love cold and snow. Terrible if you like to golf and cruise in your favorite Porsche.

One other thing good about it is that it allows you to fix all the things on the car that you have been putting off because you didn't want to lay the car up for any amount of time.

My projects started in December with new motor mounts, oil pan gasket and steering rack busings, what a difference the motor mounts make. One week after that, the snows and cold hit.

Car has been in the garage since, but has had the following projects completed:

1. Annual electric maintenance as recommended by the gurus
2. Fixed vacuum leaks in HVAC system
3. Repaired bad power seat switch
4. Replaced bad window switch
5. Repaired broken console mount
6. Installed ARM-1 A/F meter
7. Installed leather auto shift boot
8. All new brake pads, new rotors, new brakes hoses, rebuild calipers, new ATE Blue brake fluid
9. New O2 sensor
10. Install Louis Ott Cat Bypass pipe
11. Replace rear cam bore seals
12. New windshield
13. Installed Clarion SRV 303 powered subwoofer

The only thing I was going to do and decided to hold off was to remove the intake manifold to refinish and replace all the vacuum lines. I think I'll leave it for next year.

The Louis Ott Cat bypass pipe is just awesome
The subwoofer small (13x9 1/16x2 7/8) and fills the bass void nicely in the car without taking up hardly any room.

Off for safety inspection on Tuesday and back on the road!

Glen,

Glad you're all done. There's a few weeks of winter left here in Michigan,,,, so;,, as long as your done why not head over this way and start on my list on my 80.
Let's see,,,
Get those darn ball joints replaced.
Replace the left rear leaking shock.
Replace the seeping auto trans hoses.
Replace the hose on the headlight washers.
Recover the center armrest box,,
Tighten the gas tank strap,
Fix the passenger side mirror,
Tighten the driver side mirror mounting,
Rekey the new passenger door lock
Troubleshoot the whine in the radio and fix it.
Replace the vertical grill brackets I broke while using it as a hand hold while climbing out from under.
Replace the cracked driving light lens.
Align the hood.

I'm sure I left some out but I'll have it all written out by the time you get here. And when you're done we can start on the modifications. Lets see,,,,

There's a cot in the garage and a kerosene heater. And I may be able to bring in a coffee pot.

Deal?

Rob,

Cot and heater sound OK. Forget the coffee pot, get a keg. Then again, you might not want me near your car as I keep draining the keg!

Glen,

How did you repair the broken console mount. We are talking about the two plastic eyelets, right?

The two eyelets that attach the back of the console to the chassis were broken, one completely, the other was cracked. I bought a fiberglass patch kit and basically made a new eyelet out of the fiberglass, molded it right over the original piece on the console. It's stronger than the original and now the console is mounted correctly, no more rattles from there.

Interesting. I didn't think the fiberglass would adhere to the plastic. Well, there's something to do the next time I have the console out.
