Sometimes one should just leave things for later.
Angst briefly: After all sorts of maintenance my car is almost ready for the road. However I see that the parking brake cable is broken. As it happens, garagemate has a new spare set at hand and I think, 'hmm, I should do that while the calipers are disconnected anyway. How hard can it be?'. Answer is: It Can.
Replacing the cable isn't a bad job if it weren't for the damn rusty guide tubes (29) . As it stands now, the other tube doesn't want to move, and the other one is broken at the base, so that the neck part of the tube is stuck inside the wheel carrier. Any tips on how to remove the remaining tube intact and the broken stub?
