The **** has to come off before the switch can be removed. I guessing since it’s pulled to activate, you cant just pull it off (I tried anyhow).

Is there some type of clip or fastening holding it on? I don’t want to damage the switch in the process.

I thought it had a nut you can unscrew from the bottom....but haven't looked at it in a while?

C'mon, guys. There is a very small pilot hole through the shaft, just below the bottom of the ****. Use a small (very small) drill bit (or strong wire if you don't have a bit) to hold the shaft while turning the ****.

Thanks to all for the pointers. The first two picks couldn’t handle the torque, but the third one did. I have them off now.

Heinrich,
I hope you were joking because I’ve always thought highly of you for helping me out in the past.

I’m PMSing trying to get my car ready to roll for SITM. I

Kurt I'm not joking at all. Please let me know if it works for you. I have undone MANY interiors and have not once managed to get that procedure to work.
Best,
Heinrich

It worked for me... Maybe we aren't talking about the same thing.

I was asking for help on removing the **** on the electric hatch release.

If you pull back the cover and stick something in the pinhole to keep if from turning, the **** will spin right off.

I had to pull mine off when I recarpeted, used the same procedure as mentioned by JP Rodkey, I put a VERY small screwdriver through the hole in the shaft then unscrew the ****. Both are refitted after the new carpet and work great. Cheers.

Auzi, I'm sorry. Really it has never worked for me. Maybe I was doing it wrong. I'll try on one of my cars again ... perhaps the ones I tried were locktited, perhaps it was so many years ago that I just remember wrong?
