weissach question
I noticed something funny about my weissach yesterday. Almost all of the emissions gear has been taked off. For example, there is no metal emissions tool running off the front/center of the manifold. Also, my oxygen sensor was unplugged by the fuse box. Is this how porsche made the weissach? Or, did someone try to make it "faster"?
I'm not well versed with emission equipment, but I can tell you my car passes CA smog with flying colors. Most of what makes a Weissach Edition different is cosmetic, no performce gains over other US '82s. Someone was probably going for "faster".
Agree with the cosmetic story, but all of my info is 'passed down'.
Again, MY understanding -Ed Ruiz, other Guru's, and web pages - is the Weissach had the
Ugly Americans as the targeted market.
Was there a Euro Weissach, Japanese, or, a right handed Australian, version? I don't know.
We might have to go to the Porsche Historians for the correct answer.
As for Pattycakes...everything is there, and she had passed her California emmisions test in San Francisco 18 months before I bought her then she went into storage.

BTW someone jump in here!!! How do you fool the fuel mapping if the 82' computer has no provision for chip replacement/re-mapping?
It has been suggested more than once that with a missing or trashed O2 the computer defaults to a rich/start mapping. Your mileage and performance should be horrid.
