Question Wax...

Well, a trip to the garage today revealed a pretty sorry sight. The shark's bedroom was a mess, so I decided to clean the place up.

An hour's labor later resulted in a much better sight and some rather unhappy and now homeless spiders. And I realized that I was nearly out of car wax...

For years now I have been using Blue Coral Carnauba Premium Paste Wax. This stuff came in a brown and gold can and was stock number BC4...and it apparently is no longer produced.

Which sucks, because now I'm forced to pick a new brand. The Blue Coral was difficult to find and very hard to use, but it produced an incredible deep shine and most importantly... it did not haze.

This sounds like a minor thing, but because it did not turn white when it dried, you never saw little white spots around the various tiny stone chips and other imperfections that most cars have. You simply put it on, and came back 10 minutes later and wore your arms out wiping it off.

But...I'm almost out of it. What do you folks use?

Maguires Gold Class for the black shark. It's not too cheap, but really shines.

If I am particular tweaky, I will follow up with a dose of Eagle One Wet. The Eagle One will make your car shine like glass and is safe for all surfaces.

Normy,
Turtle Extreme.
It's cheap, contains the sacred carnuba, removes tars and oils fast.
I let someone pass me on a 'DIRTY" overpass.
Now i know what you mean by those white chips.
A soft terrycloth towel works pretty good on the hood chips. Otherwise a soft T shirt.
Spend less than a fiver, Second coat done in 8-10 minutes.

This is one of those topics where you'll get a different answer from everyone who posts.

I looked around a bit before deciding on One Grand Blitz Carnuba Wax. Not meant for a garage queen, but it's easy to apply and lasts longer than most carnuba waxes. When I first got my shark (1 year already!), I stripped the wax, used some 3M Hand Glaze, then applied some 3M Swirl Remover, and finished up w/ the One Grand. It was stunning, if I do say so myself.

For info on the wax, look here: CarCareOnline link This is a GREAT site for detail products. They carry a lot of quality stuff and, like the Big 3, have good reference materials online.

P21s, also known as S100 gets my vote. You apply it and immediately buff off. Will not stain trim like Blitz. Pinnacle Souveran is the best I have used but, it is expensive. You can get S100 at your local Harley store and it cost less than P21s even though they are one in the same. Try layering P21s about 12 to 24 hours apart. The stuff is great.
