HELP!!!! Stolen 928
My White 87 928 s4 was stolen today out of my garage in West Boynton FL. It has the the PORSCHE rear letters done in bright red and has 996 wheels and tires. It has a black front bra. We are offering a 5,000.00 reward for info leading to the return of the car.
Please Email any info.
Thanks in advance.

See if your insurance people can do a sweep of damaged 928 claims back a year to current.
It's either a joy ride, a chop, or data plate swap.
If you have the time check out local paint shops and work your way out of town.
Can't see them rippin' you for a parts donor.
Either way if it's parts or data plate swap it'll be rolling within 2 to 14 days. If it's a joy ride you 'might' luck out.
Feel for you guy, I know your stomache felt like it hit bottom when you realized what happened.
Ask around see if someone noticed anything, and remember like most rapes its a friend, a friend of theirs, or an aquaintance - applies to the joy ride-.
I hope this turns out well.

is the car tinted or not? i'll keep an eye out around here and on I-80, however, my odds of seeing it are about as likely as finding osama bin f$%^ing laden at the wheel. do as john "stray cat" struthers has advised and you might get some lucky breaks. think like a car thief. it'll probably have a texas tag on it when you finally locate it, they all seem to.

Rich,
A long shot is to see some of the parts show up on Ebay. I follow Ebay 928 stuff pretty closely. I'll keep an eye out there.
What color interior is yours?

Rich,
I'm sorry to hear about your situation. My previous car was stolen and I sunk my heart into that baby. It really sucks. I stayed away from cars for about 5 years..couldn't get over it.

Over on the RX7 board something like this occured between two members. Basically a con job where an owner gave out VIN information to another board memeber. The car was stolen and members of the board soon found parts of this well known car on E bay. It had something like 25k in 'go fast' parts alone. Someone contacted the seller, found the car, snapped photos and called the police who arrested the individual responsible.

How was it stolen? ramp truck? any ideas or color on the method of removal? Did your 87 have a security system?

Rob: I just got an '85 and I'm revising the "To Do" list by putting ignition cut off at the top. Sort of off topic: I don't think alarms are of much use, other than to annoy everybody nearby. And of course we are always faced with the electricl gremlins, bad enough on the 928 w/o paying some hatchet jobber and giving him access to the fuse panel. I saw a car on a flatbed (in NYC and not 928!)with the alarm going. Well, I assumed it was a legitimate tow. I have always wondered where it was headed, may be to a chop shop. Hope you get back yours back in original condition.
