Post Where Can I get SS braided fuel lines

Can anyone steer me to a source for Stainless Steel braided fuel lines for the 86 928? I really don't want to measure and chase around for the proper size. Anyone BTDT?

Thanks,
Greg

Chris, Thanks but I talked to Jim at 928intl and Dave at 928 Specialists and they could not provide SS braided fuel lines.

Looks like I may have to have some made.

Greg, bring the hoses to any hydraulic hose specialty shop - the types that build hoses for large trucks, earth movers, industrial machinery, etc.

They will reuse the end fittings and swage in a section of braided hose of the appropriate length.

I just had this done for my car, though opted for red hi-pressure hose. Cost was around $30 per hose, probably more for braided stainless.

Hi Nicole,

I read that thread. Do you think the things discussed in that brake line thread would apply to the SS braided fuel lines I'm thinking of using?

I agree with you about keeping stock parts on the car, but a couple of short fuel lines of braided SS shouldn't cause a problem. Or could they?

Thanks
Greg

Greg your fuel lines carry less than 40 lbs of pressure ...almost nothing , nearly anything would work fine ! It would be hard to find a hose too weak to do that task . Braided stainless covered hoses often are rated for hundreds of pounds of pressure . I have not had any issues with stainless brake lines but they are not all created equal , I use DOT Approved lines without incident .

Greg, I just got some -6 braided fuel line (3/8" equivalent) from Jegs. I used it to splice in the Vortech fuel management unit to the existing lines, I don't know your application but the typical AN fittings that are used with the braided lines won't work on any of Porsches factory fuel pressure regulators or dampers but I'm not to familiar with the old buggers.

That's where I was hoping that someone who had already done the legwork could point me to a source or a manufacurer part#. I'm not lazy, I'm pre-occupied with the intake, camcover R/R and powdercoat job I'm doing. SS fuel lines would accent the new powder job well.

Thanks for the input

Greg:

I know nothing more than what I've learned in the thread I posted the link for. That's why I posted the initial question in the first place.

I think one good point was made in that thread: There are probably high quality SS lines out there that are safe to use, but you should inspect those a lot more often than the regular brake lines.

I'm not up to doing that...

No moles here, I'm just a squirrel trying to get a nut!

I just thought that was some damn good driving, I'd like to get some vid. of a 928 in a four wheel drift. We'll see after SITM.
