Default Will an RMB on stock exhaust do much?

After going through a lot of the exhaust threads, I'm still not sure if it would make any sense to install an RMB on an otherwise stock '87 S4 exhaust. I'm really amazed at how quiet this car is with the factory setup. I don't want to get too carried away-I'd just like a little more exhaust note, but not a full muscle car tone, and I'm not really looking for an HP increase yet. More to the point, I don't have the budget right now for a full exhaust upgrade! Any thoughts on this?

The RMB will improve your exhaust tone, make it deeper and a little louder, not objectional. Years ago someone claimed a 10HP increase on a dyno but I've never seen any sheets to back it up. It does reduce the weight by about 10-15 lbs., so it's worth it in my opinion.

An x-pipe will also change the exhaust note and give you dyno proven HP increase, even with the cats installed. The change in sound is different for each.

Talk about an "enhancement" The RMB is the real deal !! It makes the S-4 sound like it has 320 HP. I get calls all the time from people who just installed one (30 minutes maybe) just to say how much they like the sound. We have them made for us, in stock can ship TODAY.....

I second what Jim says. Without spending much money at all, you can make the 928 a much more interesting car. The "music" of the V8 is wonderful.

... and that 320HP sound is so totally different from the 316HP sound of the stock S4 system.

If you are looking to liven up the exhaust note, the RMB is your ticket. It's relatively inexpensive, very easy to install, and totally reversible if you later decide that the extra rumble isn't for you.

There are plenty of RMB cars running around, easy enough to find one local and listen to it if you have doubts. But Jim has them in stock and you can have it on your doorstep tomorrow. Go for it!

The recent thread "Why are 928xs so cheap ?" Chris notes "This tranny shifts so quickly, and the snarl it now has....oh boy! Ya, I'm gonna enjoy this!
Gonna take it to work today (52 miles ea way)
Might have to fill up twice

Try the RMB without cats and an x-pipe... talk about SNARL!

When I recently had an alignment done the tech said, "That car isn't just mean sounding, it sounds like it wants to chew you up and spit you out!" That made my day!

Anyone have any sound or video clips of the RMB or x-pipe in action?

Is this authenticated? Loss of power by just removing the rear muffler?

They aren't bad sounding cars even in stock form but the RMB sounds extra nice from what I can tell in the videos posted about. The inline 5 turbo in my '93 Audi S4 sounded like a sewing machine on crack until I installed the 3" turbo back exhaust from Stromung. Now the S4 at WOT can scare my Shark silly. ;-) Amazing how something like that can transform the car.
