Post Window moulding maint.

Anybody have a sure-bet to make the black window mouldings shine? Tried some rubbing compound and wax, neither of which helps much. Noticed some accidental Armor-all overspray while doing the rear spoiler made it look shiny when I wiped it off, but I'm sure that stuff would be terrible for the finish.

I used some Back To Black on mine and it seems to work well. Got it at a local Auto Zone.

I know this might sound funny but try peanut butter. Ok, hold on before you call me crazy becuase I thought the same thing when I was told this. I had a buddy that went through a car detail school and that is supposed to be a trick they use. Take a small amount of smooth peanut butter and go over the black window trim. Rub it in, and wipe off with a towel. This really works. I do not think it works on bigger parts other than window trim.

I think it has something to do with the oils and minor abrasive nature of the peanut butter.

Try it on a small section to see how it works. I have done it on my 1987 928 S4 and it makes the trim look new. It lasts alot longer than anything else I have tried.

SHunter,
Ya gotta be nuts! Maybe jelly on the tires too? LOL! Since its cheaper than goin out to buy yet another car product and your logic on the oils part makes some sense its worth a shot. May have to wait until I break out the Skippy to make my sandwich for tomorrow's lunch.

OK so my 86.5 spoiler is looking kinda bad. It appears to have had a gloss coating that has peeled off in most places. Any ideas on how I might bring it back to life besides peanut oil?
