So how would it attach to your 928? You'd have to cut some of your existing pipe off or weld a couple of flanges to the universal tubes provided.

This probably looks easier than it really is. If you aren't afraid of cutting or welding, they might work out.

Magnaflow makes some mufflers with an internal x. Walker Ultraflo line does as well, but they aren't stainless. Would make a nice substitute for a cat.....I just haven't gotten mine welded up yet.

The X design i(and location, probably) sn't as perfected as the tuner options available here, but there is still some benefit to be had.

Why would you buy a generic x pipe when there are ones specifically designed for the 928?

because the pipe is under 100 bucks as oposed to over 400.

what i am worried about is the angle the pipe comes out and , whether there is enough
space for the piping

Why don't you just paint a big X on your exhaust pipe? It will probably give you less problems than the wrong x pipe and it's even cheaper.
The design of an X pipe depends on cam profile, engine capacity, RPM, and header design, to name a few variables. The x pipe variables are the intake length, output length, position and shape of the opening in the x, pipe diameter and distance from the valves.
The wrong x pipe can reduce power.
Save your $$$$$$$ and get one when you can afford it.
By the way, I can sell you my Super Turbulator guaranteed to add AT LEAST 10 HP for $19.95. Buy 10 of them and hold onto your hat!!

You know a comment like this..."this one is better 3" makes any discussion meaningless ! That logic leads to the coffee can exhaust. Or the ,it is louder therefore it must be more powerfull , school of thinking. If it were only that simple The only thing you can be sure of is the X listed above is cheaper....and odds are flows better than a cat.

Unless you are a master welder - this will end up costing just as much to have it put on "right".

Trust me - I've watch my neighbor with hack job after hack job trying to save a buck vs. buying the right stuff for his 84.

But Jim... mine is louder and therefore more powerful. Your entire argument is no longer valid.

Well, Pontiac used to have those ads, "Wider is better." That might work for ya.

The widetrack Pontiac was only about 3 inches wider than the comparable cars it was a lot of hype over three inches !
