Misbehaving S4. Why?
Gave her (car) a shower and took her for a Sunday afternoon casual drive with the missus in the passenger seat. About 2 hrs later , on the way home, I lost almost all power. Checked by ECU and red light was on by the fuse panels. Does that mean it was in limp mode. Shut engine off, restarted and it drove for 1 hrs as normal, then problem repeated. When in limp mode, I could still get 60 mph on the highway and perfect idle, no stalling condition. Is there something I need to check?
Please and thanks for any advise.

I had the exact same issue. It would cut out right after a car wash. Turned out to be a bad coil wire that was cracked. Water was shorting it out, then when it dried it ran like a champ.

check the coil wires , as reviously stated they can let water into the coil and short out the sysem, also do you have the black cover over the hot post /14 pin connector in the engine compartment? Possiblity that the 14 pin connector is getting wet. Disconnect the battery and check the coils and the the connector under the hood you might want to pry open the back of the connector and see if the insulation is still good it sometimes will start to disintegrate also while your there you may have to put some heat shrink on the thick wire that is wrapped around the thinner wire harness as this thick wire will also shed its insulation. Also check under the passenger side dash for water dripping into/onto the CE panel it will be evident if you see corrosion on the bottom of the blower box if so you need to reseal the blower box assembly this will keep water from shorting out the CE panel and corroding the relays and fuses. Always do this with the battery disconnected
