Bill Ball, StevenB & I fixed Rod's new 87 S4'd A/C today......
A while back (with the PO) Bill & I diagnosed the a/c as a bad control head relay and low charge.......with StevenB's expertise on the soldering (way better than me anyway).....we were able to install the outboard radio shack 275-218 relay.....got it all installed...& the a/c turned on no problem....added a little R12 (@ $10 per lb)...now that thing throws ice cubes...the coldest A/C have ever tested....Bill & I have both seen 18 out of ours...but nothing like this (see pic)...this was on a 75' day with high side pressure of about 160psi
