Lagavulin ... Paul ... this is not a competition between us to "know everything about oil" or even "know jack ****" about oil. See that is where you always miss the point Paul. Even under your Lagavullin alias, you missed it and that is why you get so much criticism.

We're not oil scientists, we're talking and having fun exploring what seems to be logical and each one of us has a different perspective.

That you may be technically correct just undesrcores the actual crux of the matter which is Paul .. you are just as stupid as we are ... and one day you wil be old and unable to remember not to drool on your bib JUST LIKE US.

Your engine builder doesn't agree with him, so why don't you start there?

I paid and will still pay attention to every one of Doug's posts 100%. I did do this & switch oil. My experience with this oil was a bit, how do I say unexpected. Simply sharing my experience with everyone else I feel is a good thing. How often do new owners start a post in a panic about low oil pressure? This topic coms up more than "how do I make my 928 go faster". Multiple people (including myself) agreed the idle pressure is not the 100% most important factor. That being said, I'm not very comfortable driving around a car that is almost at zero oil pressure at any time while running. Maybe it's only my car, I have no idea until I as a few dozen people.

Put yourself in my shoes, two different Porsche's with rod bearing issues. One still under construction, the other watched carefully by myself, Tim and Todd to make sure everything is 100%. So anything that stirs my personal pot is a big deal to us. If sharing this data with the group is wrong, then fine, I'll keep everything about my car to myself from now on. I like to think that anything I experience may help a fellow 928 owner from worrying about their arrangement.

I have no doubt the Delvac is far superior to anything Porsche tested when designing the 928 motor. I also have no doubt 5w-40 is 100% compatible with the 928 engine. Problem is with my engine - I'm sorry, but until I add a few more gauges to see what is going on under my hood, the only gauge I have is oil pressure. Add to that the sound of my lifters clacking with the lighter weight oil. I dunno, maybe after 100,000 miles my motor needs something thicker, or maybe it's only seen 50 weight for the past 20 years it's not a good idea to drop down. I don't know. I only know what my gauge is doing. Could it be a faulty sending unit or gauge? One way I could quickly test was to swap in some heavier oil, see what happens. So that is what I did since I was do for an oil change anyway. what happened was posted above for all to see.

If we were all experts we wouldn't need this forum in the first place.
