Default Help with ticking noise

I have an 84 928S that hasn't been driven much (less than 100 miles) in about 2 years. I started it the other day and a rather loud ticking type noise came from the engine. The oil pressure and level seems fine. It has about 1/4 of a tank of gas that is alos 2 years old. I say this about the gas because I was curious if this could be the problem. The noise gets louder as I rev the engine. Any help to what this problem may be would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Mark

Either an exhaust leak or a lifter. Does it go away once the car gets warm?

Is it intermittent, or always there? Could be a sticky lifter --oil change might fix.

Hopefully it's one of the previous suggestions. It is common for rear exhaust studs on16 valve heads to break or fall out. If it is a sticky lifter try this and then change oil and filter. Works very well.

Thank you for the help. I ran the engine cleaner through the car and changed the oil and the noise is gone. Hopefully for good!
