Painted My Tail Lights Red
...and I have to say that I'm pleased with the results. I used the Testor's 1605 "Candy Apple Translucent" as mentioned on this board and it matched nearly perfect. Really cleans the up the look of the OB tail lenses.

When you did this, did you paint all 3 panes red, or did you only paint the amber pane red and it turned out matching the other two.
I want to do this and fooled around with the idea of using a type of transparent vinyl to cover the amber but think i may just try this route. am curious if its best to paint the entire lens minus the reverse light, or if you paint only the amber portion and it then matches the original. I am afraid that if you add the red paint to the already red part of the lens that it will make the original red part too dark.

I just put 16x7 phone dials on my OB. I would say his are definately 8". I like the look of his much better. The spacers really hits it out of the park. Do you know the offset of the rims and where did you buy the spacers? A part # or web site would be awesome. Jason

You just paint the amber part . . . Remove both light assemblies from the car. Mask one of the lenses and do a light coat on that one, match it to the other lens. When the color matches stop and mask the second lens. By the time your done masking the second lens the masking can come off the first lens . . . REPEAT on second lens.

you can find a set of 16x7 and 16x8 phonies from 951's they come in two offsets, "early" 23.3mm and "late" 52.3mm
He probably has late 951 wheels, you can probably get a pair of 16x7 late wheels for the front and a pair of early 16x8 phonies for the rear and not need any spacers...

if you paint the outside of the lens section, it may look OK from 25 ft.....maybe paint the other lens sections as well, for uniformity?
still like my RED LEDs though....
