Ok, I'm thinking about selling my 928.
I have a lot of deadbeat customers who are paying me too slowly and I've spent too much money the last few months and really could use some cash right now so I'm offering up my 928 and all that goes with it for $ 17,500 firm.
If I get a few of these bums to pay up what they owe me I'll be retracting the offer to sell and I reserve the right to take it off the market at a moments notice. I really don't want to sell it but I really don't want to be any closer to broke than I am right now either!
Anyway here it is:
************************************************************************ ********************
1988 928 S4
5 speed transmission
Limited Slip Differential
Air conditioning
Sunroof
Black paint, seats, interior
Water pump and timing belt were done approximately 18,000 miles back
85,000 total miles.
approx. 35,500 miles on speedometer.
The speedometer reads approximately 50,000 less than the actual miles due to speedometer replacement. To make it more interesting before I bought it I checked with CarFax and it reports the most recent mileage reading as only 9000 miles, obviously with a mileage discrepancy flag. The documentation I have pretty mirrors the CarFax record of mileage until the last title change and then they drop it to 9000 miles ?!?!
This was an issue with me at first until I met the previous owner, read the documented repair history from him and the owner before him, looked at the dates and milage on the reciepts etc. etc. all that and the fact that he was telling me that the car had 50,000 more miles on it than the speedo reads instead of trying to tell me it should read less than it does....why Pennsylvania reported the milage as only 9000 miles at the last title change we don't know but I've been in and under the car and seen what is original and what has been replaced...seen the condition of the parts I replaced and 85,000 actual miles seems right to me. I wish I could give you a more definitive report but it is what it is. I'm confidant that when you read the reciepts, drive the car, inspect the car etc you will be confident with your decision like I was when I bought it.
* Supercharger 5 psi (I have all the original parts except one pulley if you want to remove supercharger and put it back to stock)
* Bilstein/Eibachs shocks/springs
* Timing belt tool
* Rear muffler bypass (I have the original muffler and cat pipes)
* Crossover pipe (Test Pipe) with two O2 sensors installed at the crossover section
new narrow band O2 sensor (stock replacement) and Bosch wideband O2 sensor for use with SharkTuner and Innovate Motorsports equipment
* Innovate Motorsports LC-1 Wideband Controller, XD-16 Universal Gauge and DL-32 Datalogger installed
* SharkTuner and EPROM burner with blank EPROM's to make new chips
* Autothority chips (factory chips in car right now I was just beginning the process of SharkTuning the car and wanted to have the stock chips in during that process)
* Porken Lift Bars
* Complete set of factory shop manuals
* Cup I wheels (4) on car (I think these are Cup I, someone look at the pics and tell me)
* Stock wheels (4)
* New master and slave clutch cylinders
* New starter (high torque model)
* Momo steering wheel (I have the original in good shape)
* Black leather Porsche Bra two piece
* All maintenance records from last two owners plus my records (I'm the fourth owner)
* This car was repainted by the second owner and the job done was excellent, they removed the glass and block sanded, installed new rubber seals when the glass went back in, replaced some interior panels etc. A lot of money was spent by the second owner to make the car look new again paint is in great shape as is the body itself, never wrecked, no sign of body work, interior is in good condition, pod has a small crack starting to form, seats are good, no tears or badly worn spots. the third owner kept up with the maintenance and added the supercharger, wheels etc.
By the time I got it it was almost perfect with a few repairs needed.
*************************************
Work yet to be completed:
CV boots replaced, I have the parts just haven't done the job yet.
Radiator end tank has very small leak, so small that if you leave the radiator cap locked in the first position where there is no pressure built up in the radiator then it doesn't leak. I was waiting to buy new radiator because there isn't anyone near me who can replace the end tank (approximately $90 part plus labor). The Devek aluminum radiator I was going to buy costs $680 plus shipping
Anti-Lock warning light comes on. I replaced the worst of the wiring harnesses but it wasn't the only one with a break in it the other three are bad enough that they should be replaced. I believe the harnesses are around $45 each.
Motor mounts/Pan gasket job. I tightened the pan bolts as they were loose and letting oil seep out but I need to replace the gasket and might as well do the motor mounts while I'm in there...
Those are the last four things on my must do list. Obviously a car of this age will need some other repairs from time to time but the overall condition of this particular specimen and the quality of care it's been given so far means it won't be a money pit. This car runs great, absolutely great!
I'll have to post some pics later, here's the only one I have right now:

Yea everything I listed comes with it.
The work yet to be done is up to the buyer.
Yes a SharkTuner and the EPROM burner with some blank chips comes with it too.
The supercharger is a modified FAST kit which has had some doubters but the bracket on this one is beefed up compared to the original FAST kit. That was the big concern originally with the FAST kit and this one does nothing but work flawlessly so far for me and the previous owner....
I think the only other concern with the FAST kit was that the power steering pulley is on the same belt as the supercharger pulley but there is no sign that anything is wrong and it's been this way for a lot of miles. Like I said all the original parts except one pulley come with it too so you could switch it out in a half a day if you want to.

That is a killer deal, waw, with a ST/Burner/LC1 included.
I wish you posted this last week and I would have made you an offer on the ST/Burner.
Good luck with the sale,

added:
Limited Slip Differential, Air conditioning and Sunroof to the description.
Also has hard wiring for radar detector (detector comes with the car)and a Harmon Kardon iPod interface installed in it.
Probably remember more stuff later and add it when I post some better pics.....

Sounds like a very nice car. Look forward to seeing pics.
In the timeline, I am curious about when (what year) the second owner did the paint job.
Thanks for posting. Going to SITM this year?
