To Colin's point; we live in oil rich Alberta where the economy is booming beyond believe but as it does so do the respective tax collectives and then our friends in political power do what they do best and p**s it away.
True gas price is less than 50 cents/litre............the rest goes into coffers.

If I recall correctly - accounting for fluctuation in oil prices rippling throughout the various markets around the world, I think we're all paying pretty much the same for fuel. But I remember reading that the EU pays way more for fuel taxes than we do.

But it's not the corp's fault. Whatch CNBC on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings when the energy inventories are released; it's a perfectly free market and refined gasoline is at $2.24 (wholesale) so the retail prices look about right. Prices for unrefined oil are stable.
The big issue is that we haven't had a refinery built here in 30 years yet demand has grown substantially in that time. We now have to import about 5% of our needs of refined gasoline because we don't have the capacity to do it ourselves. If you want to cast blame for high gas prices, it's a NIMBY attitude towards refinery construction, environmental regulations, and low efficiency cars driving a lot of miles...

Besides maybe it's how I drive but my full size 4x4 Truck and my Shark get about the same mileage on the highway, with a slight edge for in town economy going to the P-car. In fact the girlfriend's SUV (05 V8 Envoy XL) with it's *variable displacement* beats them both.
We wouldn't want to see a bunch of sharks parked nwo would we?

I paid $3.74 this morning, on Monday it was $3.39 at the same station and that's in the SF East Bay.
I'm waiting for them to blame the exploding tanker for increase.

We had planned on yanking our boat and hauling it Lake Michigan for a 2 week vaction. If gas gets to $4/gal it will cost us around $450.00 round trip and we had tucked away $1000.00 for the trip. Looks like we will be sailing in home waters this summer. Sure glad I do not own a power boat. We talked to a guy last weekend who dropped $900.00 to fill up his tank. Anything over 20 MPG in the 928 and it makes it our best MPG car we have.

I really don't care how much fuel costs: I will drive the 928. Now my daily driver is another story altogether. There is no fun factor in driving an Ford Exploder.

I too will drive my 928 and had planned on blowing off this afternoon to drive up and work on the boat. I decided not to because of the cost of gas and what I needed to do can wait till I go up next time. If the price was $2.00 it would be see ya

You guys might laugh, but I just got a round trip, non stop ticket from Detroit to LA for $16.00,($38.60w/fees). How far can you drive on that much fuel in your Shark? I know, my 928 is much roomier than the lousy aircraft built these days. If I could drive my car to LA fir that price I just might!
