Ross, Bill and Brian

It is indeed interesting to follow the post on this 928 forum as the "light just went on" when I read Brian latest post regarding the installation of the outboard relay that you, Brian and Steve installed.

Bill, in one of your previous post you asked why was the compressor cycling, the only quick reason maybe excess pressure, as I don't know what Ross had running or where his temperature slide selection was or what position he had his air slide for the air outlets into the cabin, or what ever.

Anyway, it was enlightening to read brian post regarding the fitting of the outboard A/C relay, especially the digital images enclosed with his post, as when I saw them I recognised that the outboard relay is infact the replacement of the relay that we have isolated for Ross in his Control Switch. My confusion was that I did not recognise that we were talking about the same relay, however I remember reading about a replacement relay in one of the previous posts on the forum.

You will note that I advised Ross to do a final check to pinpoint whether the internal relay of the Control Switch had actually failed and I admitted that I had not had the Control Switch out of my car and I was working off the electrical drawings and tracing circuits.

I have looked at the digital images, counted up the diodes, resistances the connectors and in the second shot I could see the slider ****, so we have an excellent view of the Control Switch and the Bottom Panel A/C Switch in the lower RH corner of the second image?

Anyway, over to Ross. Did you get a chance to do the final check to definately isloate the internal relay solonid coil?

Would now refer you to Brian's (IcemansG17) post on the Air Conditioning Outboard Relay , because I believe here is you problem and the solution.

Lets know how you go and I believe that Bill is the resident expert on this relay's replacement and Brian's images shows you what need to be done.

I did the test and got an infinity reading. I will head to Radio Shack tomorrow to locate relay 275-218.

Tails,
That is a seriously informative step by step instruction for diagnosing the problem Whitefox is having. I suspect that others will refer to this thread for help also. Thanks for helping him sort this thing out. It is folks like you that help everybody learn about these cars.
