+1..... that line is found left of center high on the firewall and penetrates the firewall right there. On my '87 car it is fed from a tee off the small brake booster source.

Only problem with disconnecting from the 4 way, you might not get that squeeling problem, but you won't solve it either. You will end up with all sort of vac probs. If you screw up any of the lines on the 4 way, you might have to go as far as redoing your intake stuff.

Start from under your center console with a mity vac. There are 5 connectors to test, that will give you a better idea of what you are dealing with.

Take off the drivers side panel attached to the center console. There you will see a black cover, take it off and you will have access to the entire HVAC system for the inside. Test each and write down what holds vac, and what does not, by color code.

It was just a diagnostic suggestion to help determine if that is the noise. It's better to isolate before tearing apart.

Actually, it would be smarter to do like you said, then when you don't get in the center console, like I did, you won't decide to tear in to the rest of the car because "well, I'm part way there already".

An X-pipe will drown out that screech just fine.

Randy,

You are 'sumthin' else!'. . .I just love your posts!
Now drown your squeal, or cut the lines or face the heartbreak that your vacuum, which is supposed to suck, might not (does that mean it now 'blows'?) . . . whatever...

BUT HOW ABOUT JOINING THE 'TEX-A$$ POSSE' TO SITM?

I have no clue where Skidmore is, but you do... and how to hook up with the DFW gang...

Ya gotta join us!

~Yankee in the Prairie Lands of Tex-A$$

We now return you to your regular thread... BTW - Good Luck with your 'squealing shark'....

returning to the subject:
as Wally said... find out which one leaks and plug it until parts arrive and fix it when you have time. You really need a Mityvac to do a decent test and see which ones are leaking. Wonderful tool.

Now on a 1988 fixing was not hard. Been there, done that a few times now. Just takes a bit of time. Procedure on my web.

But how about on a GTS? Did anyone write up a procedure for the airbag version like the GTS? I had a quick look and found out that the pass.side airbag need to come out. Right? Any thoughts?
(yes: the footwell actuator in my GTS leaks badly, causing a total vacuum drop in the system)

Good point about the GTS. When interior hvac leaks need to be serviced, disconnect the battery first.
