I guess I'm always the one to ask the obvious question.
Good ol' 928 602 907 00. Is this a multi-fitting pickup on the distributor end of the wire? I just got mine in and it's not the same as what was installed. The replacement has a 4mm plastic spacer that came fitted over the pickup head and is loosely attached to the base. This spacer doesn't exist on my original pickup. Maybe it's there for other models? When installed the new pickup is sitting that 4mm further outside the body of the distributor.
Comparing the two it looks like it's just enough not to get a signal.
Car was running okay with a minor intermittent miss-fire (hence replacing the green wire since it looked original). But with the new one installed absolutely nothing. Not even a sputter. I understand that the fuel pump activation is also tied to the Hall sensor functioning properly and I didn't hear it running as you normally can. So my guess is it's that spacer gapping the pickup enough not to get a signal.
So how do you get that plastic spacer off? Considering this 2 ft. wire just cost me $113.00 I don't want to imrprovise getting it off and break the pickup.

This additional length can be removed. My new green wire was longer on this end also. IIRC, the plastic was perforated/scored so I was able to snap it off to the correct length. The connector should fit all the way into the dist housing.

Yes, I was also surprised that my green wire did not plug in. I compared it with the old one & then I broke off that extra plastic bit & it was OK.
