Default Mystery seat controller!

I'm always picking up 928 parts on eBay, often on a 'just-in-case' basis.

The other day I saw an item described as a new/unused "seat controller unit", part 928 618 134 02 (that's the part no on unit, the auction description was 928 618 134 01.

The description said it was for all 928s from 89. Though I have an 88 I couldn't resist as I bought it for about $20 (no-one else interested) and used ones on 928 Intl were $400!

Now here's the thing. When I search for that part number in the 1991 PET nothing comes up! Nor can I find any reference to it in the WSM. Is that perhaps because it was only installed with certain option (maybe memory seats, or heated seats)?

So I have a potentially valuable and brand new part as described (it's beautifully built, with an array of gleaming connectors) but I've no idea of what precisely it does or whether I can ever use it in my S4.

Can anyone please shed any light on this mystery part?

Thanks

Jim I have the memory (seat, mirrors) in my 88 S4, so do I have this part in the car? When the description said "all 89-95" does this simply reflect that the memory option became standard from MY 89?

Got round to installing some brake parts from you guys today - dampers and pad wear sensors all round to go with new pads/rotors.

you might remove the drivers seat and look underneath it that is where this part resides

IIRR there are two versions of that controller, '87-88 and '89-95. Change is something minor probably as only last digit in part number was changed. Probably has to do with change in seat heating as it was changed at same MY. For some reason heater control was included into same system. Without memory option heat has its own control relay which is not directly connected to other seat functions other that that they share same powet feed wiring loom. When passenger side has memory also there is control unit under that seat too.

Thanks for all the info gentlemen. I'll take a look under the seat but otherwise keep the unit with my box of treasured 928 parts!
