Default QUESTION FOR NICOLE: Jager Dash Trim Kits (Real Wood)

Hi Nicole,

The brown interior in my new-to-me 1984 928S is in great condition. But it has the drab brown interior:

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/346391-my-odyssey-has-begano-need-some-advice-portland-or-rennlist-help.html

I have a few questions about updating the look of the center console using the Jager real wood dash kit. I am thinking of a medium colored (i.e., not too dark and not too light) burl finish.

Do you have any suggestions on a burl wood finish?

Do I remove the original faceplates on the original center console dash? Or do the authentic wood kits use an adhesive backing and are stuck onto the original faces of the center console?

I wish we could offer solid wood replacements for the trim pieces, but I doubt there would be a reasonable number of people willing to plunk down a few thousand dollars for having those made... Remember, the factory wood once cost thousands of Dollars - partially because these parts were so tricky to make and keep from warping.

So, what we can offer is a surface enhancement for a fraction of the cost of the original Porsche Exclusive wood. It's a multi-layer material, consisting of a thin layer of authentic wood veneer (or carbon or synthetic wood), covered by a thick protective layer of elastic (to prevent cracking), non-yellowing polyurethane. These two layers are backed by a strong 3M adhesive, similar to the 3M trim tape.

Installation is pretty straight forward - it takes about 45 minutes to install a complete kit.

Best is, if you call me some time and we'll go over what you want to achieve, what solutions I can offer, and the material options. If I have your email, I can also send you a "worksheet" that shows all the pieces we can make for your 928.

I'll send you a PM on how to best contact me.

man oh man. chiffon white and that brown interior. same combo as my euro... not to rain on nicoles parade or anything, but why not keep it original? unless you fully intend on keeping the car for life. how easy (if at all) is it to convert everything back, Nicole? it's just surface treatments, right? but its still gotta be stuck on there good.

Animal, I had never prefered white colored cars. However, this Chiffon White with an off-white/cream undertone really stands out for me. Regarding the burl wood finish, this is a tough call. The brown interior looks too bad to me. I think the burl finish will add some "warmth" to the dated factory look.

Nicole, can you PM me with your phone number please? Thanks!

Andrew, dont get me wrong, I'm not questioning your taste at all... its all in the eye of the beholder, as we all know. All I'm saying is you have a really nice near mint example of a factory shark there. if you plan on keeping it for life, definitely do anything you could want to do to it... but if you think you might want to sell it one day, try and keep in mind what will reduce or increase value. thats all. otherwise, having the exact same color, I can agree with you... I never much liked white, but I love the Chiffon white. and the color brown we have isnt what I would call perfect, but I have grown to love it.

Thanks Tim! The idea is to keep it for life and pass it on to one of my sons. The oldest one is only three and so, I get to drive her for a while! Hopefully, it will then be time for me to move on to the new Panamera 928

Like any trim pieces on your car, you warm it up and pull it off. No permanent changes, no damage to the original pieces.
