Absolutely beautiful!! Very nice, clean work! I'm impressed.

So, those are called French seams? In my old upholstery classes, I thought I was told they are "baseball" seams. Or are they simply two words for the same thing?

Leslie,

a baseball stitch refers to a type of hand lacing. It would be a good substitute for the cross stitch that we use on steering wheels for instance. It gives a pattern of successive chevrons.

I love the baseball stitch. I'm afraid to ask though.

Here it is on an Audi TT:

An option on the 2008 TT as well:

Those are nice. Very well done. In a South Western kind of way.

Thanks, I'm going to add that one to my collection

Yes, I know. It must have been an expensive option.

The design style is refreshinly surprising for something coming from Germany.
You would expect something like this from the Italians.

I've never actually seen on in person.

I'm starting to think the color combo in that first pic would work in my car (pretty close to what I have now, just subtle differences).

The Ferrari F430 that was at the track yesterday had tan leather seats with a red french seam...it was very nice & the leather had a great feel to it....Pauls work is (as always) stunning...leaves me speechless.....

What's stronger. The stitching or the leather.
Always liked the TT baseball seats. But don't the stitching at the bolster edge take
all the wear and tear?
Guessing worn leather on our bolsters may be easier to patch up than broken stitches on the TT baseball seats.

Paul, anyone request 9 - 2 - 8 embossed on the armrests?
The french seam armrest is extremely nice.
Now if only someone would make a billet AL storage bin release **** that wouldn't keep popping off like my plastic ****.

Although much less clear cut than it used to be, now, with management and design teams switching companies and countries from day to day, the fact remains that when you think of a sexy interior, the Italians come to mind.

That being said, I've always been really inspired by the leather work of Aston Martin and lately also of Spyker.

As far as I can tell, the baseball lacing on the Audi seats is purely cosmetic. All the work is carried by the French seams on either side. In this case though, because of their size, I would suspect that the laces do take much of the abuse. Much like the piping does in the traditional design. Simply because it sticks out.

I did not get requests for engravings on the armrests. But I do get requests for some fairly weird engravings sometimes

OUT-RAGEOUS!!! Every time I see your work I'm more impressed. Love the french seams on the armrest, definitely looks more factory and upscale. Nice work.
