Default Fresh air ~ window stuck

The passenger window has been 'clunky' for sometime. Today it wont fully close leaving a small gap between the glass and full closure.

Is it the guides or another piece? Any WYAI?

It could be loose stops #20 or a worn roller #4.

Rollers (#4) do wear out and even crack / break. On the way to the Porsche Parade in Portland last year, my driver's side roller bent and cracked and the window suddenly crashed into the door. I pried it up with a stick I broke off of a nearby tree along I-5 and finished the Parade; then tore into it when I returned. The arm appeared to also be bent. Maybe that's your situation. Or the arm bent when it felt some off track resistance after the roller broke. I had a spare assembly in my garage so it was easily replaced. I think the plastic simply got too old and brittle.

Ron,

4 can definately be a problem. If 12 and 13 are extremely worn, the entire window assembly could be slowly sliding down the tube as well since the guides are worn.

All in all it's just best to replace 4(if broken, it's pretty obvious if it is, 12,13 and 20(window guides - these can be done via DIY). Check out a similar post from me recently discussing this. You may find some useful tips. I think I spent <$50....to repair. Now my door is solid a rock.

With parts in hand, it's about a 4hour job total if you take your time. Also buy additional door panel clips, you will probably need a few...

Yup, 12,13 and 20 on mine were not worn or broken. I simply had a box of spare parts and I dug out a new no. 3, yanked the motor off of the old no. 3, and put it on the new one, and plugged it into the car. I had been driving with a piece of foam holding the glass in place which made for fun at the toll booths along the way. In one instance, as I approached the booth, I started to open the door, and the guy appeared scared and waved me on without paying the toll. Nice guy, huh? The worse part of this fix was taking off the door panels and re-installing them. I hate that because all the speaker wires must be taken off and reinstalled and I usually tear something loose. Then I had to clean all the duct tape residue off of the upholstery and outside the window, because the window had been sealed that way for a week. Messy job. Imagine life without a fat roll of duct tape in your tool bag. Awful thought.

Thanks folks.

Nice weather forecast for this week so hopefully with no rain I'll get her apart on the weekend. Have experienced drivers door issues with the broken handle.

My # 12 was warped (which I did in '04), but I should've done the #20s (felt guides) at the same time, because now they have worn thru and scratched my tint. I dread taking all the crap apart again to get to it.
