I wish it was that easy :-)

The processor runs at a quite different speed, but I'm not sure yet what other hardware differences there might be.

Yes Normy found he had a 85/86 US LH ECU incorrectly fitted in his 16v Euro. I copied the EPROM from my own 86 Euro for him to fit, and that fixed the problem.

You have got me thinking, if the clock in the 84 Euro was changed, and swap the software, would it work ?

Are you talking about changing the crystals? Or the µControllers, too?

My question was more along the line of - if swapping the later LH and EZF boxes into the '84 ROW works. Same harness/connector wiring?

Yes xtals...

Swapping later boxes into early car would work OK - same wiring and connectors.
