Default Tyre pressures ~ A/S rear rubber

I know this is a very hot topic but please bear with me.

I very recently got down to the wear bars of my PS2s rears and with much thought and advise (thx Garth) I decided to replaced them with Michelins Pilot Sport A/S...........same size as the PS2s 275/40 x 17.

For as long as I've owned this car it has always ran on summer/hi perf tyres specifically 3 rear sets of Pilot Sports and 1 set of PS2s (yes, I've gone through that much rubber).

Today was the first chance to get out and try the new tyres, keeping in mind I still have the PS2s on the front (they're still like new). I found the rears to 'squirm' when pushed almost as if the sidewalls were not as stiff.

Here's the real question: do you think the A/S tyres should be run at higher pressures that what I was running with the summer/hi perf rubber?

Current rear pressure is 32 psi cold on the A/S.

32 seems quite low. I'd take them up to 36 for a start.

Was thinkin' that too Ernest...............at least there's a starting point with a Porsche recommended pressure.

I'll go with 36 psi all round...........GTS spec I believe.

36-38psi is not bad for the rears: if you had put new PS2's on to replace otherwise identical, but worn rears, I'll wager that you would detect a sensation of tire squirm .... goes with the turf of new, deep treads. With the exception of wet roads, my personal preference is for the last 25% of safe wear left in the tire .... and am inevitably disappointed when bolting on fresh street treads.
The A/S version will not be as 'sharp' as the PS2's initially, but they will last 2-3X as long.

That and the fact I wont have a panic attack every time our weather swings to snow and cool temps.

Given that these tyres will provide the street adhesion required I've prelonged my driving 'season' immenstly.

Heinrich......here I come.
