I just had this issue yesterday. I would come off the accelerator and the car's RPMs would dive (sometimes stalling) but then would hunt like crazy for idle. The reason was that my TPS wasn't hitting the idle position. On my car, I can adjust it as part of the SCer - Others will probably have to replace it if it's not working. Once I verified it was making contact... all was right once again! BWAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

Andrew,
Good news for you! When you test the throttle switch and Temp sensor@ with a reader, do you nne the car to be running? Sorry if this is a obvious question.

I haven't tested the tempII sensor. I knew it was my TPS because I couldn't hear the "click" when it hits the idle mode. So I adjusted it until I could hear the click - You don't have this adjustability, I believe. Follwo the writeup I posted above for the TPS.
For the Temp 2, I know you ohm it from each pin to ground, not pin-to-pin. But I don't recall the values, sorry. I'm sure it's in the WSM, but I'm not at my normal computer, or I'd look it up for you. The values will vary with the temp of the car. If the car behaves the same hot or cold, then it's probably not the Temp 2.
