Thanks for your support of Rennlist - it is appreciated!

if your status is not updated to Member within a day or so (it is done manually by Admin), send me a PM and I'll get you fixed up.

Good luck with your search.

Or, ask this list or do a search for preferred 928 mechanics and then find the one closest and arrange for a PPI with the shop and seller while the auction is still ongoing.

All are possible, and especially necessary when looking on eBay.

Here we go. There is a posting on ebay by a NoCal 928 club member. Looks like the type of seller I'd like to get in touch with and the honest tech-oriented advertisement speaks to me. URL is
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1986-...QQcmdZViewItem

If anyone knows the gentleman, I'd like to get in touch with him ASAP. Can only send "1" email to a seller a day and I've met my quota and clock is running.

Thanks....

For an 86.5 with an enthusiast owner who appears to have taken good care of it. Man, that's a steal.

How dis-a-pointing. Phreeking ebay limits user-user emails to 1/day and I had sent my one. I spent high and low today trying to track that guy down and ultimately had his shop (Devek) calling him for me. Would GLADLY have paid more. Strange he settled for settled for so little. Really wierd

you might still have the chance to gladly pay more.
the winning bidder is new without any feedback, not the first time those sort of deals fell through.

On second blush, he stated in his advert that he reserved the right to terminate the bidding early and setttle out of ebay, which is what it seems he did. Lucky buyer.

get the feeling it was an inside deal, though. Bidding was ended early. I assume there was the means for the bidder to pay more than stated?

I saw/drove this car yesterday and it was quite solid, exactly as Dan described. He's is very much an enthusiast who just bought an 89 GT and really knows his stuff. He was guessing that the car would sell for somewhere around $5500 so I would be surprised if the deal he struck was for anything close to the 4k price the auction listing indicates.

Interesting. If you see Dan, mention to him the chase that I unsuccessfully made. He should get a chuckle. Ebay allows "1" user-user correspondence via ebay per day. I used my quota enquiring about an item with less potential, early in the a.m.. Engaged the ebay on-line admin as to how too get a message to Dan, with no success. Searched the web and located his (likely) Norcal928 club. Tried unsuccessfully to get his contact there. Tried to Track Dan down via his parts source (Devek) who were looking him up based on his VIN number. Of course, all this with only his vehicle description and VIN number; not knowing his name at the time. Devek did identify him and were to call him for me. Whew...

Oh, yeah. If the sale doesn't go through (assume it has}. I'd like to hear from him.

Correction: Devek only identified Dan as "Dan" and offered to act as intermediary, without giving persobal info.
