Default Question about S4 brakes

I bought a set of S4 brakes a couple months back for my 80. Now I need to get some rims for the car that will fit over them. The rotors are about 317mm I think. Will a 16" rim clear that, or do I need to go with a 17"?

I had been planning to run 17s or 18s, but these came up and I really like the looks of them. Simmons wheels on EBay

Thoughts?

Thanks for any and all help.

That pricey for 16's. What is the offset ? Check this chart.

16" wheels will clear S4 brakes just fine. You will, however, need to upgrade to a S4 spare to clear the front calipers.

Looking at the pics I would say the offset is way wrong for a 928.

Simmons will custom make wheels to suit 928 offsets although with shipping to the US I would imagine they'ld be expensive.

$1600 for new forged multi piece wheels doesn't seem unreasonable to me. Please let me know if you know of something cheaper. I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

I emailed the seller to see what the backspacing is. I'm guessing the rears won't work. My car didn't come with a spare...

John-
I've got the Design 90 wheels from my car in my garage that i'd be willing to let go to you for... I don't know... $150 sound fair? I believe they are 8x16 in front and 9x16 in the rear - They should work fine for your needs. Anyway, they're taking up space in the garage and I'm never going to use them so make me an offer if $150 is too high.

Hi Andrew,

I appreciate the offer. I looked a bit more into 16" tires as well. You can't get anything wider than a 255 from anyone (except slicks), so I guess I'm back to 17s or 18s.
