Default Brake Squeak Spray - Snake Oil?

I already did a search on this, so I know it's a "popular" topic. Strangely, or perhaps tellingly, did not see anyone trying any of the myriad of anti-brake squeal sprays on the market. Is that because it's a load of crap to believe that these sprays work? I have found several varieties, all claiming that you can spray on their compound and the squeal disappears, viola.

My pads and rotors are relatively new; no idea about the damper condition or what the pads are; I assume they're OEM (p/o replaced them recently;with what I dunno). Porsche put out a service bulletin about the squeak by the way which basically said "we can't fix it." WTF!

So, to spray or not? What say you, fuzzy britches?

I would never spray anything that is a possible lubricant on my brakes.

Neither of my OB's squeak & none of the S4's in my area have brake's that squeak. Try different pads?

CRC Disc Brake Quiet - Tacky red spray to use on the back of pads. Works brilliantly, and much cheaper than the dampeners.

Good point. But I think the spray is more of an adhesive, or something designed to fill in small grooves in the rotors? Honestly I have no clue what the stuff is, though.

The noise is caused by vibration under light braking. The cause of the vibration could be the pads, it could be slightly warped or grooved rotors, lack of dampers, dead dampers... lots of things. But making it go away for $6 is mighty tempting.

Disc Brake Quiet works as a lubricant on the contacting surfaces of the pad to piston. You want something on that surface acting as a lubricant but not getting near the friction surfaces, Disc Brake Quiet is the best thing out there. If you still have a squeal that wont go away putting stick-on shims on the back of the pad is usually the ultimate fix. I would stay away from anything that's intended to be applied to the rotor friction surface.

Ah, stupid me wasn't thinking about stuff we put on the back of pads. I was assuming this went on the braking surface.

I use wurth anti-sieze, the copper stuff.
