Default heater valve skinny

I have read that there is a metal heater core valve that is readily available. I believe it's from an Audi/Vw what are the particulars? Is there a year or specific model? I need one in a hurry. HELP

I also used a Chrysler part from Napa. I got the idea from John Pritle's site....5 years and no problems.

We started bursting them on supercharged cars the first few OB's that we did.
It seems the combination of old plastic plus suddenly-spooled up waterpump impellers were too much for them and they blow up.

We have a replacement here:

I'm in the process of replacing mine with one similar (if not the same) as the one Carl sells.

Bought here in Aus for $15Aus.
Fits
Holden Commodore VN-VT V8L
Ford Falcon XD-XF 4.1L
Gates part no. HV5217

That is a different valve from the one I Installed on my car, do you have the PN?
It looks like it is made out of plastic?

I used an Audi 5000 valve in my 928 and in my 944S2, got one from NAPA and one from Autozone. Different designs but both were compatible and have worked very well.

I used a valve that looks similar to the one Roger posted....the only problem was the vacuum inlet is slightly smaller than on the factory part.....so it caused a vac leak...but a zip tie fixed that!! Been working great for over a year now

Whitefox,

I don't remember the part number, but here's the information I received from John:

"I went in to NAPA and asked for a heater valve for a '94 Grand Caravan 3.3L. The plunger piece inside is metal so I doubt it will warp and be as much problem. This valve works the same but has 5/8" fittings. Our 928 hoses prefer 3/4". I went ahead and used the valve and no problem. There should be an arrow on the valve showing water flow. Water flows out of the engine thru the valve."

Hope this helps,
Roger
