I noticed the two rubber hoses on the back of my A/C expansion valve are dry rotted and ripped. Has anyone had to replace these? They run into the firewall and to the dash. It looks like I have to remove the hood to get to them so if someone has a better idea let me know. Probably part of the reason why my AC hasn't worked in 5 years.

The expansion valve is fitted directly to the evaporator. Could it be the sealing grommet ?
