No affiliation, just noticed it in the local Autotrader. Not sure if it's an 86.5

If that's the same car I almost bought in Vegas about a year ago or less, it's been wrecked on the passenger side and repainted badly. '86, silver/brown, 35K, coincidental, I doubt it! Plus, the previous owner was a smoker. But let's not jump to any conclusions here........................

Todd,
You do get around!
Speaking of the plastic odometer, if someone (not so honest) who was leasing a 928 back in '86 knew about this quirk, they could totally take advantage of far exceeding the mileage limits which back then were probably 6-7,000 miles per year.
Some of us OB owners could have mileage that's off by large amounts. Emissions and logging all the data religiously is pretty recent. Only a pro would have known about "car fax" back when one actually was faxed the reports. It's funny how they stuck with the name, even though it's an anachronism now.

CarFax must have it's name because you had to fax in your request back in the day, then they do research with some database they developed, then they fax back the info.

Now, I never accused this seller of disconnecting the odometer. As far as I know, it's actual. My only comment was on the fact that if indeed it was the same 928 I looked into a year or so ago, that it had suffered a pretty serious accident, that's all.........................

For anyone interested, I spoke to the owner and he said it's the first time he's tried to sell it. It's an 86.5

If it hasn't been wrecked, and the flexplate's OK, that's a great price for the top-of-the-line OB, IMHO.
Never trust CarFax for a clean record; get it checked out!
No rub-strips = money!

Sorry, but I completely misunderstood your comment. You said "I do get around", and I thought you said the exact opposite. My bad. No harm, no foul, my friend!
