there is an increadible ammount of labor involved.
first i grinded the nasty looking seams of (not necessary, but once you polish them you want it smooth as possible) intakes.
then i sand them with sandpaper finalling in 2k grid.
then some adjustments to where ever there are some marks left on the material.
then i sandpaper the piece again.
finally, i polish the piece several times.
i didn't grind the middle rib out of the plenum i think it gives this sort of cool look .
kind of like the dudes helmet in 'rocketeer', if anyone still remembers that.

You're doing a fine job. My question has to do with the insides. Can you get inside and polish the ports? I would think it would make air flow go a lot better.

Has anyone had the spiders electropolished? This would be very easy and shouldn't be too expensive. It also elminates the impurities that cause a polish job to not last as long. You can do a quick search on Google and fiind companies that do electropolishing almost anywhere.
We just had our last batch of Stainless Modular Crossovers that came in last week electropolished and the results are amazing (photo doesn't do them justice).

Not to take away from ceedee's nice work, but I remain a fan of ceramic coating (aka Jet Hot - different than powder coating). Ceramic coating achieves chrome-like appearance while also offering insulating properties.
Here's the spider I did on my '79 a few years ago. Total cost was around $120 back then. I hand-painted the Porsche crest.

$120? Thats a great price. I'll check into that and see what the price would be today. Looks nice Randy.
BTW, I your old spider the other day.
