I have DVD from Nick. There is third clip in it from UK track day. Each of them is between 550 and 670 MB on DVD quality. Can convert them to practically any file size and common file type needed. Don't want to put them up into any P2P software, at least not without Nick permission.

hey guys, got back yesterday at 05:30 am and fell into bed after the whole day monday at the ring and then driving home via dunkirk/dover - absolutely shattered! had a blast with the usual uk 928 suspects plus a few new converts including joel h with an 86 S2 and simon w whos 928 needs new head gaskets also dave in dubai who took the plunge and rented a race car on monday as his 928 is in australia! we all had an excellent time although im a bit worried about alex (aka cheburator) as he was driving a new z4 m coupe instead of his GT...

i didnt get time to take many pics myself but i know dave has loads and matt h was there as well, he always captures something interesting. for my personal satisfation i managed a best time of 8:49 bridge to gantry which im really pleased with

Great time there Nick...

I hadn't timed any of my laps, but surfice to say, they were no where near that quick... low to mid 9's maybe....

At least that was before the input shaft bearing let go... and what now also sounds like a seriously dodgy torque tube

Here's a snap before all that happened... there is also loads of pics on the various 'Ring' websites of the Orange beast!!

That's Dave in the passenger seat....

Yes, what an absolutely great long weekend that was. I'm having difficulty deciding which was best: 1) fast passenger laps (thanks to all for taking me on those laps)
2) slow driver laps (and special thanks to those who were brave enough to sit in the passenger's seat) or
3) the memorable long drive from Nurburgring to Dunkirk to get the ferry, and the even more memorable short drive after getting off the ferry.

Can't stop laughing!!

Great photo Fuse69 (won't use your name - not sure of rennlist protocol on that issue) and sorry to hear about your mechanical problems.

Yes, I've got quite a few photos - and would post them if only I knew how.

Regards

simon w timed my laps from the passenger seat. we only timed two, the first one he hit the wrong button and was wiped (doh!) and the second was more lairy than the first so i decided to slow down for a while and tighten up my lines. matt climbed in and i was consistent around the low 9min mark according to his count. that place is simply amazing, one or two laps are just so intense.. so much to remember and it just keeps going.

im looking forward to getting a few more little jobs taken care of on the car and getting it ready for its next trip

dave, thanks for the faster passenger lap - and dont forget to BRAKE NOW!!! that was some fun

i gave dave advice on how to drive the ring, firstly in the car park where i told him how to drive with matt in the car as his instructor - "just nail it and matt will tell you where to point the wheel, he has enough experience to instruct you through!" but instead dave decided to save this special treatment for myself then there was simon w in the drivers seat..

Nick: "ok, brake now, brake NOW. BRAKE. NOW. NOW. ...........mmm, ok Dave, maybe a bit sooner on the brakes for the next corner. ok, brake now, NOW NOOOOOWWWWW......"

And this was pretty well how it went for every corner for the next x many minutes!!

Oh the joys of youth!!

If anyone reading this is thinking of going to the 'ring carless, then I can highly recommend renting a car from the nearby specialist 'ring racing company. Unlike ordinary rental cars, these are fully insured on the track, with 5,000 Euro excess. The car I drove was a BMW318, with cage 4-point harness, stripped, stiffer suspension and sticky tyres - and just possibly upgraded brakes. Not enormously powerful after the 928, but very nimble and ample fast enough for me as a beginner.

Cheers all

Default Sniffed some butt ;)

Highlight of the trip:

The Red Baron lines up behind Dr Nick's orange beast at the barriers.

Moi goes to Dave in the passenger seat: "I bet Nick nails it out of the barriers and he won't wait for us at all." The orange beats roars into the distance, which raised a

2 to 3 mins later the orange beast is still well ahead of us, plus there is plenty of "backmarkers" between us...

Dave then waved the red cloth in front of the bull: "Alex, it ain't really a race, BUT GO AND GET HIM!!!"

Which we did

I wish every trip would be like that...

Yep !!! another GREAT RING trip has been had ... and not as busy as most of us had feared (for Easter weekend) . I rode "shot gun" with Dr.Nick on that very lap (and many others) and there's a GREAT video clip of the Orange Beast flying through the "KARUSSELL" that I filmed from the "RED Baron" on a previous lap. I remember Dr. Nick saying... " I'm just going to take it easy this time 'round, shortly followed by the heavy application of the LOUD pedal and the roar of 32V up "Tiergarten" ... GRRRRRR ! "... Take it easy ??? Yeah right ... BTW that was a 9 min. lap.
Matt... another RING Rat...

Yes, indeed, a brilliant trip, thanks so much to Matt, Nick and Cheburator for the support and instruction. Think we got a semi decent lap out of my S2 auto by the end didn't we Nick? Dave, sorry I never got to give you a passenger lap but at least you came back in one piece eh?

Can beat the above quote: "ok, watch it, this one's off-camber you;'re probably carrying a bit too much sp-- SCREEEEEEEEEEECCCCCCHHH ok, don't worry, re-start the car and reverse off the track and out of the racing line of this blind bend whenever you're ready"

joel, yep that last lap was really good with nice lines throughout the first section. its such a long track that you cant possibly learn the whole thing in one weekend and i think i was about the same by the end of my first trip - knowing the first section up to about schwedenkreuz and then only some of the rest in disconnected bits. its about by lap 20 you can remember whats coming next and by lap 50 you can remember where your meant to be on the line. after that comes more speed

the lap with alex chasing was really funny, matt and i came through the toll gate and i could see alex one car behind so i thought well have some fun! instead of pulling in and forming up convoy style we nailed it as soon as we cleared the road cones and managed to beat some slower traffic in the straight sections making up some more ground. what made it so much fun was matt and i knowing this was going to be like a red rag to a bull to the 'red barron' in the Z4 i think dave had an exciting lap as passenger with alex!

Yep !!! it was "RED Rug" central ... I wish I brought my GP White '87 S4 Manual along to the Ring... though in hindsight it's probably better that I didn't.
Red Baron V Orange Beastee laps were the HIGHLIGHT of the weekend ... though a few HOT laps in a certain E46 BMW M3 CSL with AP Racing anchors all-round comes VERY close to that honor... The 'G' forces that CSL pulled under cornering & braking were PHENOMENAL ... and my stomach has only just recovered from the ordeal... ... cant wait 'till our next trip, when I will hopefully be picking up my NEW Toy, the W124 M-B 500E "SUPER SALOON" ... more to follow.
Matt... Ring Rat...
'91 S4 Auto aka GT-A... now SOLD
'87 S4 Maunal/LSD... waiting for a NEW A/C compressor
'00 BMW 328i Manual Touring M-Tech SPORT...daily donkey
'92 Mercedes-Benz 500E aka Velvet Hammer... soon to be mine
