Could be an after market audio sensor for the alarm, listens for glass breakage or some one crashing into your car.

Microphone for a hands free phone system? or alarm add on? or a mic sensor for audio volume in the car for a noise sensitive audio volume control...

It is a microphone. Likely for a phone, but some alarms use them also, and very few decks had recording capacity. Anyone remember when Higgins was abducted?

Well I haven't hands-free stuff installed in the car, so I may snip this out and replace with a matching LED or something just for neatness.
