Default Heater water valve R&R.... hey, why is the MAF sensor upside down?

After my Viperectomy I got to the task of installing a new water valve. I pulled off the air filter cover assy and what should greet me but a mountain of leaves and debris. It looked like a mouse motel, sans mick and minni. So I vacuum away.

Later as I pulled off the lower AF assy and disconnected the MAF harness I noticed the MAF had been installed upside down...??? It clearly says Airflow with an arrow??

Anyway, do you think having it in upside down would have affected anything, MPG, idle, ?? I don't think it ran too bad before. I reinstalled it in the correct orientation, with the arrow parallel to airflow.

Your thoughts?

That is odd. I do not know if we have the same set-up, mine is an 85 euro. But to put it in upside down would put the connection on the wrong side. There is not a lot of slack in the wire. Hard to imagine.

Anyway, The adjustment screw and connection pins should be on the drivers side on a euro and of course the arrow points down into the u.

No, not on the wrong side, just facing the wrong way. It was only flipped vertically but that did make whoever twist the connector 180 as well. It was plugged in from the rear instead of under the plenum. I don't understand it either.... I did have to snake a wire down there to push the wire bundle out from over the hole. Other than that, it slid right in. Someone must have been in a hurry I suppose.
