This is true.

Had to read the thread after browsing the pop-up. There is a difference between owning things and knowing things and it ain't the "k."

Actually.. its WAY worse...

I beg to differ... On a road car there isnt really that much reason to why one would like to have toe-out in front (There are just so many other things to adjust instead that doesnt give the excessive wear on tires). I can agree that it COULD be dangerous... But hell.. so could a weared down suspension, tires... u name it.. be as well. It DOES affect how the car handles... quite drastically.

On a race car its a complete different story. Putting a tad of toe out on race cars is just one of many things in how to setup a car. I even heard of race cars that have assymetrical toe adjustments on the tires... (I wouldnt recommend that either on a street car )

This is mainly on RWD cars...

Toe out in front
pros:
* will make the car less understeered when entering corners.

cons (Ie to much):
* uneven wear (especially if driven much on straights like in normal road driving).
* Less stable at speed
* More sensitive to bumps in the road
* To oversteered when entering corners

Toe out in back
pros:
* Less understeered througout the hole corner Car almost feels like it would have been flexible in the middle when it turns in tight corners. It almost feels like a snake... (why?.. because in a right hand bend.. your left rear tire.. the one that has all the weight on it... will stear left.. making the car turn right)

cons (Ie to much):
* unstable in high speed, during braking etc.
* To oversteered

Toe in back
pros:
Stable braking, stable high at speed

cons:
More understeered

And so on... combine this with caster, camber, bars, suspension etc and you have set up a car for a specific type of driving.
