Yes it is still raining but the '89 is in the Rev-limiter's parking place in the dry garage!

When I get back from skiing(that's right, I'm going again, haha), I'll assist with the electrical drain diag if you want help. Should be back on Apr 10th. Congrats, it looks pretty sweet. Option 474 too?

Thanks Doc,
I am jealous that you are going skiing again this season. Have a great time and don't tear anything up.
I will take you up on your offer of help when you get back.

John,
Dude. That's all I can say. What a deal. The seller must have been high. I mean, 3k. C'mon. I dropped that in repairs in the first six months of ownership of my 87. For that price, and as long as the mechanicals check out, a supercharger has to be in your near future. I know you do all your own work for the most part. Budget a few thousand to get this baby in tip top shape, 6k for a super charger, and you could STILL sell this baby for a profit if you wanted to. Prolly not to anybody on Rennlist, since we all know the rediculous price you paid. LOL.

Three Wheelin'
I went over and helped unload the car, and looked at it in the garage under light, John got a hell of a deal, just minor stuff to deal with, as long as everything mechanical works out.

Yes, the headlights are 7" sealed beam. Kinda wierd. I keep expecting to find something really really wrong, but so far everything is okay. I really think that the guy I bought it from had a '89 model car with over 100K miles that he couldn't work on, he was paying lots of money for maintenance items, and he couldn't drive it because it was eating batteries. (see aftermarket stereo) My thoughts are that he just wanted out of it.

Gave the car the once over and John has a super sweet blue 89S4 with LSD for peanuts.
Everything looks in place to fire her up and go cruising.
Nice one John.

Roger came by and allowed me to borrow a Kempf tool. I needed to tighten up the Tb just a little bit. Justin came by and helped with that and putting the TB cover, distributor cap, et.al. back in. I had already checked the oil, we put a fresh battery in, I checked the relays, and Justin turned the key. The car started after sitting for about a year on the first revolution....Started 2-3 more times and the idle slowly crept up to about 2100. Justin turned the car off because a small oil leak presented itself at the driver side cam tower onto the exhaust manifold.
I turned the key and the darn thing wouldn't start for me. It seemed to be running rich and now it won't start.
I disconnected the battery so it wouldn't drain, but then reconnected it. A code showed up on the digital display : Typ. no 04 .
Also two other codes showed up at the same time : 19.05 and 1988
Anybody cipher these codes?

3K for an 89?
What did you start the bidding at, $19.95?
Nicely done here, John. With some TLC and the huge knowledge base here on Rennlist, you can bridge any current gap between where the car is now and where you want it to be.
Happy trails,
Tim

John,
The codes are always present on a digital dash when you have disconnected the battery.
Just the software level and year.
We need to put the hammer on her.
If you are in a rush come an borrow it.

Roger and Brad,
No I'm in no hurry. I have plenty of other projects to do on the stepson. Replaced the radiator and hot water valve todayon the Stepson. BUT, it surely would be sweet to have the dang S4 start for me rather than Justin!! LOL He was giving me some serious $hit over the car not starting for me!!
