I looked for MANY years for my '84. I really wanted an '85 (for the BW tranny) but when I stumbled upon this one, I wrote the PO a check before I had even heard it run! Probably not smart but after soooooo long, I couldnt resist!
Mine was imported by Porsche of America strictly for racing. (hence why it has very few options) Porsche of America lost funding and support before the racing season could begin. Im not sure who they turned into. She was federalized (wink, wink) by one of the mechanics contacts in 1985. That is why the title reads an 85 MY. So she sat in a warehouse under cover for 5 years before the original driver bought the car from the race team. I think precise ownership was the difficulty. Lights, cat, O2 sensor were all done. I have since removed most of that, the lights are cool, and was able to bypass emissions completely due to VIN (ZZZ) grey market vehicle.
After reading those 10.1 and 10.4 numbers, I am very interested to go see if I can find my engine number. All I know is, I have yet to go up against any MY normally injected that isnt easy to pull away from... even one SC'd 87 was neck-and-neck!! :ducking !!!
Wouldnt trade it for any other!!! :BIG SMILE

OK, so my engine number is :
M28/21
82E 00718
Am I reading this correct... mine is a 10.1:1 comp correct?
Does that engine number have any other significant meanings?

Sweet Murf ride Kevin. We have a DC region GTG next weekend, see different thread, they are generally as fun (lots of new people at this one next weekend too) as they are informative, we will even be breaking out some tools for this one (Im supplying the bottle openner this time).
Its in Bowie, MD, about an hour towards DC from you... stroll on down to see some fast guys....
