New Macassar ebony interior panels
Hi,
I have been meaning to replace my zebrawood interior panels with Macassar ebony for quite a while. I have a brown inerior and this color combo is much better.

The flash makes the wood look washed out and more yellow than in real life. The wood is expensive $300, but I had a gift card so...

Yes, Mike I did make these myself. I am lucky to have a hardwood lumber place about 3 miles from my home. Owl Hardwood, Des Plaines, Illinois.

Thanks for your kind words. I thought about offering to make these for other people but it is pretty time-consuming and requires custom fitting to the mating parts and surfaces. Without the car that these are going into, I'm afraid there would be some tweaking left to do.

Dave,
Looks great. How many hours did it all take? Did you have to stain/urethana as well? What part of town are you from? I grew up in PR 2 blocks north of the Pickwick.

Very nice
I have been thinking of maybe doing something like this in African Blackwood to go with the black leather in my 81. I have enough material to make the door inserts but need more for the console.

The grain on Blackwood is very faint and I doubt you would even be able to tell the difference between it and the black leather unless you were up close.

It looks like a great job. Terrific choice on the wood. Most of the time wood looks lousy in a 928, but that looks classy. To make it perfect you have to have a super smooth, almost plastic finish on it. A bigger pic would be nice.
