Techinically they DPDT momentary "center-off". At least on the early MYs. YMMV.

I second that notion.

The window & sunroof switches are the same all years (wiring configs are slightly different but switch types are all the same).

They are technically Dual Pole Triple Throw "DPTT" (momentary in 2 positions) the way Porsche implements them - however there is no reason you can't use a DPDT center-off momentary switch instead... the only difference is that the motor connections will be floating when not activated instead of grounded - this really doesn't matter.

The 90+ models technically only need a SPDT center off momentary - but still use the same switch because it was already available and worked OK...

However note that a center off DPDT (or SPDT) momentary in both positions is not the most common switch configuration to find... to say the least!

The Wiper is just an SPST momentary

I've looked before for mil-type toggle switches for my boat but was unsuccessful.

Anyone know where to get 'em? I'm looking for the type that have a guard (typically red in colour) that is first flipped up to reveal the toggle which can then be activated.

McMaster has mil-spec toggles:

Nothing that looks like what we have, but they do have the guards Randy was looking for.

Randy - Pep Boys here in Phoenix carries some look alikes with red covers - though I'm sure they are not mil spec.

I have had success doing the same with my switches. Too bad the switch covers with new graphics cannot be purchased as a separate item. Yes, I know of Jager's solution to this problem .

Yep, that looks like them - thanks, Victor.

Rod & Randy - you might want to take a look at this series:

http://www.waytekwire.com

Select: Products -> Switches -> Contura Rocker

These are similar size to stock 928 switches - allow for mounting bezels - have the switch body types you'd need and also have provisions for illumination (1 or 2 LEDS on some models). Randy they also come with seal kits which would be good for a boat application. I think they look pretty good too - although I'm not so sure about the curvy ones...

I found these a while back, not really answering the question. Oh well.

Yea, I know...do you have any idea how the Jager stickers look? Could not find a great picture online and was just wondering if they will look like stickers or blend in nicely? If they are not that great I am thinking of making some masks and airbrush the symbols onto the switches...
