I am scheduled to be in Paris on the 18th anyway, but what are the opportunities to be in an automobile? Seems pointless to pop over and drive around in a rent-a-whatever,

When are you leaving the US? I should have a better idea of my schedule in a week or so. I can also PM you my dad's phone number, where you can try to reach me.
BTW: I never got an answer from the Porsche lady who is supposed to organize the factory tours. Maybe I asked too many questions...

At this time I plan to ride with Schocki. But I could borrow a friend's 964 Convertible and drive myself, if need be. But I'd prefer to be in a 928 at this event...
From Paris I would not drivei to Stuttgart. It's a nightmare, traffic wise, and you'l have immense cost for gas and toll. Just hop in the train, or fly!

I have driven the FFm/Mu-Paris route on occasion, if I go for this I will fly in from stateside. Thanks for the info on rides, will drop back in after checking the timeline. I might have reason to hit Baden-Baden just to make it worthwhile.

still not sure if I will have a spare seat; my wife says she will definitely not join me but may change her mind at the last minute.
I feared I would be there in the Mustang because 1500 miles after doing the TB & WP the 928 started boiling again.
Finally got time to check 928 and the new thermostat has failed. Ordered one today and so long as there is no collateral damage then it should be Bwaahhh at the weekend. The 928 has been standing for 6 weeks but anyway started on first turn of the key
Before that i tried smiffy's trick of replacing the short heater hose
with a clear plastic tube and I could see the WP works. for the
technically minded I found a garden centre that sells clear plastic
tube off a roll. I bought some 16mm which fitted nicely on the heater
valve and some 12mm which fitted nicely on the metal tube. What was
lucky was the 12mm hose fitted inside the 16mm and made a water
tight seal without use of clamps.

Gerry: That would require that there ARE event T-Shirts. Remember, this is not America... some things are different on the other side of the Atlantic. Some have changed since I left, so we'll see...

Mr Clumsy strikes again
My wife did decide at teh last minute to join so I will have no spare seat; not in the front anyway.
I was checking my car over last night before driving to Stuttgart today.
Put a little oil in & then decided it needed a drop of coolant. Took off the coolant reservoir cap and as usual put it on the little black plastic shelf at the back of the motor.
I did not realise there was a crack at the end of the shelf so the cap slid off the shelf, bounced over the fan motor dropped down then slid a bit more and then dropped into a big hole by the inner wing. It is impossible to get my hand in there I tried fishing with a magnet and with one of those long flexible things with a grabber but no luck. I can not even see in there...
Was tempted to cut it open with my Dremel but I do not even know where to cut.
I called the OPC & they said I could collect a new cap at 2pm today.

If there are factory people around please ask questions which haven't been resolved in here. For example:
- When speedometer pickup was changed from gearbox magnet to ABS sensors? It was most likely towards the end of '90 MY. Factory documentation says it was at beginning of '91 MY but there is contradicting evidence that it was actually done already in last '90 MY cars.
- When did GTS production start? Factory paperwork indicates it would be 08/1991 for ROW cars at least but it is extremely difficult to find GTS which were first registered before December '91. Was production started already after '91 summer vacation or did it start much later in '91? If later what was the reason for delay?
- Was there plans to put differential oil cooler into automatic GTS? There is one early US sales material which indicates also automatic GTS would have oil pump in differential like in manual gearbox. Is this just mistake in literature of were there in fact plans and parts done to make this possible? Where would oil cooler have been in this case if it were planned?
- Did factory actually do special model in '95 MY like they made brochure for? It says it has wider front fenders made out of steel and 8" wide front wheel and is only available with automatic gearbox, Iris blue metallic and Amazon green metallic color with Classic grey leather interior. Where these made, where they were sold (at least in Germany I presume as brochure is in German language), how many were made etc? What ever info is available.
- Was there larger engine power option in late GTS production? There have been reports of an optional 360 hp engine in '95 ROW GTS at least. Whats the difference compared to normal engine, what was option code for it?
Those come to mind easily. It would be great if factory people could answer some of these questions.
